Dear Parents or Guardians of I.S. 5,
For starters we would like to thank anyone that joined us on January 24 for our first workshop with Learning Alliances! One of our goals this year as a school was to provide as much support and information as possible to our community. With these workshops we hope that all of you will join us and learn something new or connect with other families. Our next workshop in English will be on March 22, 2023 and there will be a translated session in Spanish to follow. Meetings will be virtual via Zoom - please go to our school page for meeting login information and flyers. We look forward to seeing you there!
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Galicia (Parent Coordinator) at [email protected]. For more details, visit the school page www.is5q.org.
For anyone that missed the first workshop, Learning Alliances will be recording these sessions and they will be uploaded to our school website shortly after. Please look under our Parents tab and click on our Parent and Family Workshops section. You will find the recording of the session in addition to other flyers and announcements for future workshops.

Dear Parent/Guardians:
My name is Licette Galicia, and I am the Parent Coordinator for The Walter H. Crowley School of Leadership at I.S. 5. I am very excited to have this opportunity to work with you and your family! Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a first generation Latina college student. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and a Masters of Science degree in school counseling. I was born and raised in Queens and my goal is to use all of my acquired knowledge and experience to provide you, the parents, with the utmost support and information possible.
My role as Parent Coordinator is to serve as a facilitator – to bridge the gap between teachers, parents and students, and to help you find answers to the questions that you may be confronted with during the school year. My goal is to make it easier for you to resolve issues at the school level and to help you find the information and services you need to help your child. I am committed to help make this school year as smooth as possible for you and your family.
Part of my role as Parent Coordinator is to inform and invite families to school events. I look forward to meeting you all at these school events. Please join us! I remain available to you at your convenience and if you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached at (718) 205-6788 Ext: 2053 and by email @ [email protected] I am here to assist you. If you need information regarding curriculum, school policies, after-school programs, community resources, or any other issue, please feel free to contact me. I hope to hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
Licette Galicia
