February was Respect for All Month!
The NYCPS Respect for All (RFA) program was launched in 2007 to build the capacity of staff and students to actively promote a community of inclusion in each of our schools. The importance of promoting respect for diversity in our daily practice is vital to creating and sustaining an inclusive school climate and culture in each of our schools so that all students feel valued, supported and safe.
- At I.S. 5 we take pride in our alignment with the NYCPS RFA program to ensure a safe school environment where ALL students feel valued and are celebrated for who they are!!
- At I.S. 5 our RFA Liaison is School Counselor, Athena Levan ([email protected]). Families are welcome to speak with any school counselor with any concerns of RFA violations.
- The 2024 I.S. 5 RFA Spirit week was held from February 9th - February 16th. Our students and staff showed their unity and compassion for one another and for our community, and through each day, showed and modeled our commitment to respect, inclusivity and care.

Families! Take the 2024 New York City School Survey!
Every year, New York City Public Schools asks all families, teachers, and staff in grades 3-K through 12, and students in grades 6-12 to take the NYC School Survey. The survey gives school leaders a better understanding of what members of their school community think about their school. The information collected by the survey is designed to support a dialogue among all members of the I.S. 5 school community about how to make our school a better place to learn. Please share your perspective and voice so we can make I.S. 5 an amazing place for all!
The 2024 NYC School Survey launched February 12 and will close on April 5, 2024.
